Newsom, who is clearly seeking to boost his flagging national profile ahead of a potential run for president in 2024, challenged DeSantis to a debate in June, but has now proven that his words are nothing but empty rhetoric.

DeSantis, on the other hand, used his appearance on Fox News to highlight the stark contrast between the two states, emphasizing Florida’s status as the top economy in the country, its ranking as number one in education, its record-low crime rate, and its number one ranking for net in-migration. This is in stark contrast to California, which has seen its once-thriving economy wither away, its education system sink to new lows, and its crime rates skyrocket.
The debate between Newsom and DeSantis is not just about the two states, but about the future of our country. Joe Biden and other liberals want to see America transformed into a socialist utopia like California, but true patriots like DeSantis know that this would spell disaster for our great nation. We cannot afford to see America decline any further, and the only way to reverse this trend is to vote for conservative candidates like DeSantis who have a proven track record of success.
Newsom’s proposal for the debate included several stipulations, such as having only one moderator (Sean Hannity), a 90-minute debate in studio, and no notes allowed. However, it is clear that Newsom is simply trying to stack the deck in his favor, as he knows that he cannot compete with DeSantis on a level playing field. Such desperate tactics only serve to underscore Newsom’s lack of leadership and his unwillingness to confront the challenges facing California and America as a whole.
