Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) has issued a plea to the mainstream media to begin covering the horrific reality of the crisis at the southern border amid growing reports of migrant women being raped as they wait to enter the U.S. This comes as state data shows record criminal investigations into the rape of foreign nationals in border cities Reynosa and Matamoros, perpetrated by smugglers who demand cash from migrants. The rise in sexual violence has been confirmed by eight sexual assault survivors and more than a dozen local aid workers.

Britt has visited the U.S./Mexico border numerous times since her election in 2022, becoming the first woman elected to the Senate from Alabama. She has witnessed first-hand the brutalization of women and the exhaustion of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents who are not only having to be paper pushers, but also trying to protect the border, often finding small children who have drowned in the river or pulling lifeless bodies of pregnant women.

The unsecured border has become an unprecedented national security and humanitarian crisis, with over 10 million illegal immigrants expected by the end of the Biden Administration. Drug cartels have established tentacles all over the country, with migrants telling Britt how they have to suffer the terror of cartel visitations to collect their dues. Fentanyl poisoning is killing Americans at an alarming rate, equivalent to a commercial airplane crashing in the country every day. CBP announced it busted a vehicle that was carrying enough fentanyl to kill every single Alabamian ten times over. Yet, President Biden refuses to acknowledge a problem exists.

The situation at the border is not the American dream; it’s an American nightmare. Americans would not tolerate this happening in a third-world country, so it should not be allowed to happen in the United States of America. The Biden administration’s inability to manage illegal immigration has caused human suffering and irreparable damage to our national security. It’s past time for action, and we must secure our border to protect American citizens and prevent more crimes, especially against women and minors, from occurring.

In sum, the issue at the border is a crisis that has spiraled out of control due to the Biden administration’s policies and their refusal to acknowledge the reality of the situation. It’s high time for action to be taken to secure the border and protect American lives. We cannot allow this illegal influx of immigrants to intensify and further compromise our national security and cause further pain and suffering to the already vulnerable migrant population at the border.
