In a new NBC News & Telemundo survey released on Monday, Latinos’ preference for a Democratic-controlled Congress has declined by half over the last decade.
According to the Daily Caller, 54% of Latinos prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress to 33% for a Republican-controlled Congress. In the survey’s 2012 edition, Democrats were preferred by 65% of Latinos to Republicans’ 23%, the lowest margin ever recorded in favor of Democrats.
Furthermore, Latinos disapproved largely of how the Biden administration handled key policy portfolios that have become a focus of this year’s midterm elections. Latinos disapprove of Biden’s handling of “border security and immigration,” which has become a controversial issue as migrant crossings break records, while 54% and 60% disapprove of his handling of the economy and “cost of living.”
It can be argued that Latinos and immigrants are tired of being insulted by Democrats.
For example, just last week, Nancy Pelosi spoke about immigrants coming from the southern border and claimed Florida farmers needed them to pick crops.
And, a few months ago, America’s own First Lady Jill Biden felt it was appropriate to compare latinos to breakfast tacos.
