CNN’s left-wing bias is finally showing, and the network is paying the price! With ratings crashing, it looks like the network will soon be losing a major center – a sign of the times that only conservatives are aware of. This can’t come as much of a surprise since CNN has long been pushing an agenda that will only continue to cripple them economically.
The end of an era is upon us; CNN has announced its plans to close the doors on its downtown Atlanta CNN Center for good. What used to be a cornerstone of news broadcasting in the region will soon become a distant memory. After years of speculation, the network has made the decision to cut costs by relocating their operations elsewhere. While this may come as a disappointment to some, many saw this coming with the company and many more of these cuts will continue, if things don’t dramatically change soon.
The Washington examiner reports, CNN is leaving its downtown Atlanta mainstay. The CNN logo atop the CNN Center that has long been a fixture among the Atlanta skyline will soon be gone as CNN’s headquarters are moving to Warner Bros. Studios. Discovery’s Techwood Turner Broadcasting campus.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, CNN has been considering closing the CNN Center for years.
Former CNN President Tom Johnson, who led the network from 1990 to 2001, said, “I am heartbroken.So many of my friends tell me how they’re going to miss that wonderful CNN logo on top of CNN Center. It just meant so much to us.”
In an effort to cut costs, AT&T, the network’s former parent company, sold the CNN Center to Florida-based firms CP Group and Rialto Capital Management in 2021 for around $164 million.
Despite CNN’s programming being primarily based in New York and Washington, D.C., Atlanta continues to play a significant role behind-the-scenes. According to TVNewser, the network moved their master control operations to a new location this week. It is estimated that CNN will have completed the entire move by the end of 2023.
Among the cable networks that have departments on the Techwood campus are TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, and truTV.
It’s truly disheartening that an essential institution, like CNN, is on the decline. It appears as if they had little respect for their own trade and are now facing the consequences. Sadly, I don’t believe this will be enough to make them reevaluate their purpose or hold themselves accountable for how they’ve neglected their duties. Rather than summoning a moment of self-reflection it seems likely that this organization will simply coast until there is nothing left but debris. Fortunately, the news isn’t all grim, as other outlets may use this as a chance to resurrect journalism with dignity and precision — perhaps, even shunning CNN and setting an example in its place.
