Reps. Jim Jordan and Mike Johnson, both members of the House Judiciary Committee, have written a letter to Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland that begins, “[i]n sworn testimony before this committee, you denied that the Department of Justice or its components were using counterterrorism statutes and resources to target parents at school board meetings.” Then they called him on that.
Jordan and Johnson said: “We now have evidence that contrary to your testimony, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has labeled at least dozens of investigations into parents with a threat tag created by the FBI’s counterterrorism division to assess and track investigations related to school boards.”
The evidence the House Judiciary members have “comes from “brave whistleblowers” within the Department of Justice,” they say in the letter, reports Fox News.
“In testimony before Congress in October 2021, Garland told lawmakers that his Department of Justice had not deployed antiterrorism tools against parents protesting the actions of school boards, saying ‘I can’t imagine any circumstance in which the Patriot Act would be used in the circumstances of parents complaining about their children, nor can I imagine a circumstance where they would be labeled as domestic terrorism,'” reported Fox News.
As background, in September 2021, the National School Boards Association (NBSA) sent a letter to the Biden administration about parents protesting Covid restrictions during school board meetings. “Five days later, the DOJ issued a memo directing the FBI to investigate threats to school boards,” Fox News reported.
Fox News continued, “An internal email from the FBI’s criminal and counterterrorism divisions instructed agents to apply the threat tag “EDUOFFICIALS” to all investigations and assessments of threats directed specifically at education officials.”
Jordan and Johnson’s letter to Garland states, “we have learned from brave whistleblowers that the FBI has opened investigations with the EDUOFFICIALS threat tag in almost every region of the country and relating to all types of educational settings. …as a direct result of your directive, federal law enforcement is using counterterrorism resources to investigate protected First Amendment activity.” They go on to cite several specific examples.
I wonder how long it will take the liberal mainstream media to start reporting on this story. They never will, if they can help it. This story is huge, however, not only in the fact that Biden’s AG lied to Congress, but in how the Biden administration was in cahoots with the FBI in the investigation of parents at school board meetings.
