Two people were shot outside GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin’s Long Island home on Sunday. Zeldin is running for governor against Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul.

According to Townhall, authorities confirmed that the shooting was “unrelated” to the Zeldins.

According to Suffolk County authorities, the shooting occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

As Zeldin noted, his twin teenage daughters were home when the incident occurred outside his Shirley, Long Island, home.

According to the Daily Wire, law enforcement is investigating the incident, but Zeldin does not yet know the identities or motives of the two individuals. His family is working with investigators to turn over security camera footage to help identify the individuals and what they were doing on Zeldin’s property.
