Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, wants to declare a crime emergency and suspend cashless bail laws.

According to the Daily Caller, during an interview with FOX News’ Maria Bartiromor, Zeldin said that he seeks to take as much action as possible in his first 100 minutes as governor.

According to data collected by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services, murders and aggravated assaults in New York rose 4.4% and 9.5%, respectively, between 2020 and 2021.

As we reported last week, Zeldin’s teenage daughters were inside his Long Island home in the afternoon when two people were shot and killed. Many New York families were “coping with the reality of rising crime,” he said the next day.

This year, New York faces critical challenges that require a strong, decisive leader to take control. The Democrats have been unable to successfully address issues such as rising crime and a cash bail system that causes havoc in our justice system. Lee Zeldin is the candidate who will stand up for law-abiding citizens and fight against Democratic principles that prioritize the rights of criminals over victims. He plans to declare a crime emergency and suspend cashless bail laws, ensuring that those who commit crimes in our state will face consequences and be held accountable. It’s time for New Yorkers to send a clear message by electing a Republican governor who will bring about real change and finally end the chaos and dysfunction caused by Democratic leadership in Albany. Join the red wave and vote for Lee Zeldin on November 8th. He’s the governor New york needs to protect our safety and uphold justice.
