Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) has taken a bold stand against draconian gun bans this Monday, announcing that he will use the Congressional Review Act to bypass the complicated and often draconian rules of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) pistol/stabilizer brace rule.

It’s about time that someone stood up to the abuse of power by our government. This latest rule is just part of a larger trend of insane and hard to understand policies, which are increasingly leading to gun bans in vital districts around our nation.

Breitbart reports, In response to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) pistol/stabilizer brace rule, Congressman Andrew Clyde announced Monday that he would use the Congressional Review Act.

The ATF’s pistol/stabilizer brace rule was finalized on January 13, 2023, and owners of pistols with said braces have 120 days to register the firearms once the rule appears in the Federal Register.

Breitbart News reported on January 14, 2023, that Congress could block the ATF’s rule using the Congressional Review Act.

Congressman Clyde and his colleagues are ready to use the Congressional Review Act and other means to stop the rule from turning millions of law-abiding gun owners into criminals.

Clyde spoke on the House floor Monday.

Recently the ATF issued an update about the stabilizing brace ruling.

NRA – ILA reports. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) published the final Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached “Stabilizing Braces” rule on Monday, January 30.

As a result of the finalization of this rule, the Biden Administration is overturning over a decade of agency guidance and rulings that have guided the firearms industry and law-abiding American gun owners.

At the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show, ATF confirmed that braces that are removed from firearms do not necessarily need to be destroyed or altered in a way that prevents them from being reattached. Despite the rule’s claim that removing the brace from a firearm would require destruction or alteration, that requirement would be contrary to the Supreme Court’s decision in United States v. Thompson/Center Arms Co.

ATF’s final rule appears to claim that imported pistols with stabilizing braces must be destroyed or surrendered as they were unlawfully assembled in violation of 18 U.S.C. According to 922(r), it is prohibited to assemble non-sporting rifles and shotguns without sufficient domestically manufactured components.

This has left some confusion among gun owners.

Rep. Andrew Clyde’s decision to use Congress’s powers limit the insane policies of the ATF and bring that power back into its own hands illustrates just how draconian the ATF’s rule on pistol/stabilizer braces is. This is yet another example of an insane hard-to-understand policy proposed by the draconian agency, inching closer and closer toward full-blown gun bans! It’s time for Americans around the country to join Rep. Andrew Clyde and send a clear message that we must do away with these restrictions and abolish the ATF altogether!
