President Joe Biden’s Rose Garden remarks on Friday were a classic display of ignorance and denialism. Despite August’s jobs report revealing an unexpected spike in the unemployment rate, and previous months’ reports revised down by a whopping 110,000 jobs, the aviators-clad president remained in his own delusional world.

Biden’s speech was clearly an attempt to sugar-coat the economic reality that his “Bidenomics” has wrought. He tried to paint a rosy picture by stating that even though the unemployment rate jumped to 3.8 percent in August, it’s acceptable because at least he’s managed to keep unemployment “below 14 percent.”

The president then went on to argue that the United States has “the lowest inflation rate among the major economies.” However, this claim does not hold up to scrutiny. Denmark, Greece, Portugal, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland all have lower inflation than the United States, as reported by PolitiFact earlier this week.

Biden completely ignored the fact that real wages have turned negative and remained so for more than 24 consecutive months due to inflation which has made goods and services nearly 16 percent more expensive since he took office. This has caused 61 percent of Americans to live paycheck-to-paycheck, a matter that the president himself is evidently not concerned with.

When asked by the press corps why so many Americans are struggling to make ends meet, Biden couldn’t even be bothered to turn and answer their questions. Instead, he simply sauntered back into the West Wing, showing the American people his disdain and disrespect towards their struggles.

His beloved “Bidenomics” has put the average American in a financial bind that his policies are doing nothing to alleviate. According to CNBC, “61% of adults still say they are living paycheck to paycheck, according to a new LendingClub report, unchanged from a year ago.” Biden’s rhetoric may be high and mighty, but the reality on the ground is an entirely different story.

The president should take responsibility for his failed policies and admit that they are hurting the very people he claims to care for. Instead, he continues to turn his back on the struggling American public, offering up nothing but empty promises and nonsensical rhetoric. It’s high time for the Biden Administration to take responsibility for its incompetence and start working towards a better future for the American people.
